Cover Letter for Freshers — Format and Samples

A cover letter is a short note that introduces your CV. For most Indian jobs it is the body of your application email. Three short paragraphs — who you are, why you fit, and a polite close — are enough.

Cover letter format

  1. Subject line: "Application for Accounts Assistant — Riya Das".
  2. Greeting: "Dear Hiring Manager," or the person's name if known.
  3. Paragraph 1: the role you are applying for and where you saw it.
  4. Paragraph 2: your degree and 2–3 skills or experiences that match the job.
  5. Paragraph 3: thank them and say you are available for an interview.
  6. Sign-off: "Regards," your name, phone number.

Tips

  • Keep it under 200 words.
  • Change the company name and role for each application.
  • Do not repeat your CV — pick the two most relevant points.
  • Attach your CV as a PDF named with your name.
